Bantwal: Speeding car snatches life of young woman

Bantwal, Dec 29, 2023: A young woman who was severely injured after a car knocked her down at Pachinadka near BC Road Kaikamba on December 28, Thursday night, has succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

Accident

The deceased is Chaitra (22), a local resident. Chaitra who worked for a textile shop in Mangaluru was walking towards home along with her mother. Chaitra had returned early as she had to attend the Roce ceremony of a friend.

The speeding car which knocked her down later hit an electric pole and also the compound wall of a house. The car driver and three others in the car have escaped from the scene. Locals say driving under the influence of drugs might have led to the accident.

Chaitra who was the daughter of famous make-up artiste Late Bhasker Acharya was maritally engaged and her wedding was scheduled to be held with a youth of Kodyadka on March 3.
