Bantwal : Resident stage protest demanding relaxation in containment zone

Bantwal, May 22, 2020:   Several residents of Kasba area in Bantwal Town staged a protest on May 21,  Thursday demanding  relaxation in the containment zone notification. The protestors demanded that only those houses where positive cases were reported must be brought in the containment zone. As the area has been a containment zone since over a month,  people have slowly begun to lose their patience owing to restrictions.

 

 

 

It may be recalled here that three women of the area had succumbed to Covid-19 while including these cases, a total of nine positive cases have been reported from the area.

The protest was led by a local BJP leader Govind Prabhu The protestors alleged that as many as 450 houses and 90 shops are in the seal down area.

Bantwal Tahsildar Rashmi S R,  Assistant Commissioner Madan Mohan, SI Avinash and others arrived at the spot and tried to convince the  protestors that  they had to follow the government rules.

 Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik later  said he would request the Chief Minister for relaxations in the containment zone. Finally, protestors dispersed in the evening after officials  sought time upto Friday evening  to take any decision on relaxation in containment zone.
