Band of armed decoits escape with gold, cash from a house in Padil

Mangaluru, Dec 6, 2016: It is reported that a band of robbers broke into a house at Padil during the wee hours of Sunday and escaped with jewelry and some documents, worth of which is estimated at Rs 50,000.


The robbery was reported in a house belonging to Bharat Alva. It is said that he was home alone when the incident took place. He returned home at 10 pm after attending a programme. At around 2.30 am, there was a knock on the door. When he took a look, he saw three strangers and two of them had swords. He did not open the door.

However, the men broke open the door and entered. He then ran to the back door and raised an alarm. One of the men threw the sword at Bharat and he suffered injuries on his knee. The men then took away some jewelry, cash and a few documents.

Bharat managed to wake up the neighbours. The police were informed and they visited the spot with a canine squad and fingerprint experts.  A case was registered and investigations are in progress.
