Bajpe cops arrest five persons for theft of electricity cables

Mangaluru, Sep 18, 2018: Bajpe Police have arrested five persons on the charges of stealing electricity cables stored for the purpose of railway line electrification.  The arrests were made at Shanthigudde near Bajpe.

Those arrested are Arif alias Mohammad Arif (28) of Kalavar, Ramlan Iddin alias Kamal (20) of Kinnipadavu, Azaruddin (23) of  Kalavar, Abdul  Hameed (24) of Tenka Ekkar and  Mohammad Hakim (21) of Kenjar.

Police have seized  the stolen goods worth Rs 2 lakh from the accused along with a car. The arrests were made on at tip off that  some people were lurking suspiciously in  a Maruti Omni  van  at Shanthigudde. The Bajpe Police immediately rushed to the  spot, rounded up the car and arrested the five persons.

The theft had taken place during the wee hours of September 11 at Kenjaru Moodaimutt. The arrested persons were wanted in various other cases in the city.
