Kasargod,Nov 9, 2015 : At least six persons including two police personnel sustained injuries in stone pelting incidents reported at Uppala on November 8, Sunday when a victory march of the BJP following the local body election results, turned violent. Police had to burst tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
A bundh is being observed in the town on November 9, Monday following call given by the Traders Association of Uppala.
Eyewitnesses said the victory march turned violent as soon as it reached Uppala town. Though police initially tried to disperse the crowd using batons, it was of no use and they had to burst eight rounds of tear gas shells.
Soon after, a group of people hurled stones towards some shops and vehicles. As many as three vehicles were damaged in the stone pelting incident.
Police personnel from Kumble and Manjeshwar were rushed to the spot and a police team led by Suresh Babu, Circle Inspector of Kumble is camping in Uppala to keep a close watch on the situation and to avert any untoward incident.
The injured police men Omana Kuttan, Ravindran, both constables , Uday, a Yuva Morcha activist and Abdul Rahiman and Mohammad Sharief, Muslim Youth League activists have been hospitalised.
What is the need of violence? People are unnecessarily taking part in such heinous act spoil the peaceful environment into a bloodshed war field.
The uneducated and unemployed people only involvement in such unwanted acts.
