Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Sep 24, 2017: The  BJP has planned to take out a Padayatra from Puttur to Padumale, the birth place of Tulunadu’s folk legends Koti Chennaya on October 2 to protest against the recent incident wherein the statue of Deyi Baidethi, the mother of Koti Chennaya was  offended.  The Padayatra is organised to also demand the arrest  of the other accused in the case and to seek protection to religious places.

Padayatra to Padumale

Informing this to reporters here, Sanjeeva Matandoor, District BJP President, said the insult to the statue of Deyi Baidethi has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. The BJP has already sought the permission of the Police Department for holding  this 22 km long Padayatra which will be held under the leadership of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLCs Capt Ganesh Karnik and Kota Srinivas Poojary.

He also alleged that the government which had announced a grant of Rs 5 crore for the development of the birth place of Koti Chennaya, had not released even a single penny towards the same.
