Udupi, March 3, 2024: On Saturday, a faction of BJP supporters in Udupi organized a motorcycle rally, voicing their opposition to the nomination of Shobha Karandlaje, the incumbent MP for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru and Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, for a third term in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The demonstrators expressed discontent over what they perceive as a lack of progress and development in Udupi District during Shobha Karandlaje’s tenure. They emphasized the necessity of having a candidate from Udupi who is committed to the region’s advancement.
Led by Kishore D. Suvarna, secretary of the All India Fishermen’s Association, the rally advocated for the nomination of former Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj as an alternative candidate.
Beginning from Malpe and concluding at the Kadiyali district BJP office, the rally attracted over 300 party members. A memorandum outlining their grievances and demands was presented to BJP district president Kishore Kumar Kundapur by the participants.
