BJP stages protest demanding removal of CMC Commissioner

Udupi, Oct 6,2017  : The BJP which has alleged that the  present City Municipal Commissioner D Manjunathaiah was corrupt and that he  lacked  the skills to handle the post, has intensified its CMC Commissioner Hatao Programme. On October 6, Saturday, the party  took out a protest march and demanded that the Commissioner be  deputed back to the Education Department where he was earlier  serving.

The procession which began from the BJP office at Kadiyali concluded near the CMC office.  There was even a vehicle carrying the portrait of the Commissioner  with a garland of footwear.

Several BJP leaders including former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Geetanjali Suvarna, Shyamala Kunder, Yashpal Suvarna, Sulochana Bhat participated in the protest.

Speaking on the occasion, Raghupathi Bhat made a strong case for deputing the Commissioner back to his parent department and urged the District in-charge Minister for steps in this regard. He also warned that protest would be further intensified if the demand was not fulfilled.

District BJP Chief Mattar Ratnaker Hegde also addressed the protestors.

Though protestors  tried to make their way into the CMC building they were prevented by the security personnel. Later, CMC Chief Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje met the protestors and accepted memorandum from them.
