Udupi, June 30, 2017 : The BJP staged a  protest near the Clock Tower here on June 30,  Friday  in the backdrop of the failure of the police to file  an FIR and to arrest the accused  who had manhandled a Kadiyali resident at the Udupi CMC meeting on Thursday. The protestors alleged that there was no action due to influence exerted by Udupi district in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj.

CMC

Former Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat who addressed the protestors described the incident as a big shame to the Udupi district as a citizen  was assaulted right in the Council hall. Though the police ought to have registered a suo moto case, there has been no development  until now, he complained.

He warned of gheraoing the SP office if the accused were not arrested immediately. He also demanded that the  Councillors who misbehaved with Geetha Shet should be booked under 307 and arrested.

Mattar Ratnaker Hegde, District BJP President, former MLA Lalaji Mendon. Geetha Shet, Geetanjali Suvarna, and others participated in the protest.
