Mangaluru, Mar 09, 2019: "We are into politics not to gain power, but to empower the nation and make it into a super power," claimed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Speaking after inaugurating a convention of Shakti Kendra office bearers in the city on March 9, Saturday the minister recalled how BJP which got just two seats in the 1984 general elections could win a clear majority in the 2014 polls thus emerging as a strong party.
Referring to the Pulwama attack, the Home Minister said India has given a strong message to Pakistan and made it clear that it will have to pay a heavy price for targeting India. He also recalled that one of the Pulwama martyrs, Guru was from Karnataka.
On the recent incidents of attacks on Kashmiris, Rajnath said the government has instructed all state government to ensure protection to Kashmiri students.
He claimed that the BJP will win all 28 seats in Karnataka in the Lok Sabha elections. Terming the Congress-JD(S) coalition government as weak, he said the government has failed on its promises to the people and was also not co-operating towards the implementation of Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana of the Union Government.
Rajnath Singh said the local MP has sought a separate railway division for Mangaluru and assured to make it a reality if BJP comes to power.
Several BJP leaders including State BJP Chief BS Yeddyurappa, MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje and legislators of the district were present.
