BJP felicitates D V Sadanand Gowda at Sanghaniketan

Mangalore, Aug 13, 2011 : The district unit of the BJP organized a felicitation ceremony in honor D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the newly elected chief minister of the BJP-led state government, at Sanghanikethan on Aug 13 Saturday.

Padmanabha Kottary, the district president of the BJP, delivered the welcome address and introduced D. V. Sadananada Gowda briefly, touching on his political career and achievements.

Speaking on the occasion, District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar said that the people of DK are happy to see DVS, who hails from the DK, as the chief minister of the state. He also said the achievements of B. S. Yeddyurappa, the former chief minister of the state, cannot be forgotten on this happy occasion, adding that DVS will continue in the footsteps of Yeddyurappa.

He also said that Yeddyurappa had promised to give 1064 houses to the members of the Koraga community in DK and that DVS will keep this promise. He added that DVS will definitely work for the development of this district.

MP Nalin Kumar said that CM DVS will change the negative feelings that the people are currently harbouring against the BJP state government with his social welfare activities. He expressed hopes that DVS will definitely complete his 2 years as the chief minister of Karnataka.

Criticizing Deve Gowda, he said that among the three Gowdas of the state, Deve Gowda is the suffering Gowda, Kumaraswamy is the sad Gowda, and the only Gowda who is capable of doing anything for the people of the state is Sadananda Gowda. He is the only politician capable of guiding younger politicians at the Lok Sabha meeting.

The presidents of the eight Vidhan Sabha Kshetras honored the CM with garlands. After receiving the honor, CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda said that he had never believed that he would ever become the chief minister of the state. He said that he would begin his political tour from DK, since DK is his birthplace.

He said that he first met PM Manmohan Singh after becoming the CM and had informed him that he accidentally became the CM, in response to which the PM said that he too had accidentally become the PM.

Speaking about his political career, he said that he began as an RSS member and later got involved in political activities, adding that a number of people had supported him. Stating that Karambal Sanjeeva Shetty was his political godfather, he said that admires TMA Pai and Shrinivas Mallya because they gained people’s trust and goodwill and maintained it throughout their political careers.

Condemning the hatred in Indian politics, he expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of Shrinivas Mallya and maintain friendly relationships with other politicians. He also spoke of the need to break the chains of corruption.

Stating that he has started working for the development of the state and the DK on the very next day after taking over as the CM, he said that he has appointed a team of 20 to work on the development of the district from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight.

Satish Kumpala proposed the vote of thanks.

N. Yogesh Bhat, the deputy speaker; Mayor Praveen Anchan, Pratap Simha, ZP President Shailaja Bhat, Shrikar Prabhu, and Sadananda Gowda’s wife Datty Gowda were among the dignitaries on the dais.
