Mangaluru, July 23, 2016: Addressing a meeting of the newly formed executive committee of the Dakshina Kannada district unit of the party in Mangaluru, State BJP general secretary Aravind Limbavali on July 22, Friday gave a call to the party workers to target ’Mission 150’ in the Legislative Assembly election due to be held in 2018.

Aravind Limbav 1Secretary Limbavali, a former minister, reminded the workers of the call given by the party’s state president B S Yeddyurappa to win maximum number of seats in the next assembly election. Accordingly, the party should win all the eight assembly constituencies in Dakshina Kannada district, he said.

Limbavali observed that it is possible to return to power in the election with the support of over one crore party workers. He lauded the Dakshina Kannada unit of the party for holding the party’s flag high with good organisational skills. It is due to the mistakes committed by state-level leaders that the party could get only one seat in the previous polls (S Angara was the lone MLA from BJP to be elected from Sullia).

Limbavali said it is possible to put up a good show, if booth-level committees work with a purpose and organise themselves in an effective manner, irrespective of differences.   "The party has taken in advanced technology to effectively reach people. It is for the workers now to make use of this, " he said.

Anti-incumbency  : Limbavali said though one-and-a-half years are left for the Congress-led government in the state to complete its five-year tenure, it is already facing anti-incumbency. It is evident with recent goings on, where the government found itself in a fix over the suicides of DySPs M K Ganapathy and Kallappa Handibag. In Ganapathi’s case, the opposition parties staged overnight protests demanding filing of FIR, first information report.

PM Modi the leader  : The party’s district unit president Sanjiv Matandur advised the party workers to take a cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi who calls himself as ’Pradhan Sevak’ and works for 18 hours a day. "The coming assembly election is a challenge and 1,967 booth-level committees should gear up and work for success on the lines of previously held zilla panchayat and gram panchayat elections that yielded good results," he added.

Condolence:  Earlier, a two-minute silence was observed to condole the death of DySP M K Ganapathy and senior leader of the party in Dakshina Kannada Kasturi Varadaraja Pai.  Pai had served the party in various roles and was also the president of Surathkal unit.
