The BJP state general secretary volunteered to address the issue of the "gay sex video" after JD(S) MLA KM Shivalingegowda spoke about the dropping popularity of the Karnataka politicians before a debate on the trust vote in the Assembly, The Times Of India reported.

As Shivalingegowda alleged that MLAs were being shamed, Karnataka Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar told him that the sex video was a personal issue.

BJP MLA Limbavali, however, volunteered to make a statement on the JD(S) MLA’s concern. "People are taking to devious ways to stop us. It could be someone from that side (referring to the ruling Congress-JD(S) coalition) or this side (his own party) or both. Please order a probe," the BJP MLA was quoted as saying by the daily.

"It is hard to even imagine such a situation where your family has been traumatised. Only I know what my children are facing because of this defamatory video," an emotional Limbavali said. Alleging that the video clip was part of a political conspiracy, Limbavali demanded a probe into the incident.

The Karnataka Speaker, however, did not entertain the request saying the situation was odd. He also asked Limbavali not to get emotional.

THE CONTROVERSY

Two separate cases were registered on Friday after Limbavali’s supporters alleged that doctored videos of the BJP MLA were in circulation, the daily reported after the alleged sex tape was circulated on social media.

The complainants claimed that the alleged sex video was an attempt to assassinate the character of BJP MLA Limbavali. Police, meanwhile, said they were trying to trace those who originally posted and circulated the video on social media platforms.
