Mangaluru, Dec 21, 2023: Five check-posts have been set up in Dakshina Kannada district on the Karnataka-Kerala border in order to check the spread of Covid-19 sub-variant JN.1 cases.
Measures are taken at the check posts at Mangaluru-Talapady, Bantwal-Saradka, Puttur-Swarga, Puttur-Sullia Padavu and Sullia-Jalsur to create awareness, according to District Health Officer Dr H R Thammaiah.
There are no restrictions as such but Public Address system is used to enlighten people and also to ask those suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection and Influenza-like Illness to get tested.
He said Kasargod district had 27 active Covid cases of whom 25 are in home isolation. Education institutions have been asked to monitor students coming from Kerala and in case of any symptoms, they must undergo Covid test, he said.
The Health Department has set a target of 321 tests per day of which 100 are rapid tests and 221 are RT-PCR tests.
