Auto rickshaw destroyed in fire

Kundapur, Aug 7, 2012 : An auto rickshaw, belonging to Raghavendra Devadiga of Koteshwar, caught fire at New Chethan Auto Rickshaw Stand near Swati Clinic in Kundapur on the night of Aug 6, Monday.

The driver had parked his rickshaw at the stand when a short circuit caused a fire in the engine, which spread to the petrol tank. The local people and the fire fighting department brought the fire under control, but could not save the rickshaw, which has been completely damaged.

The driver Raghavendra is in a state of shock as he is facing severe financial difficulties at present and has a one-year-old to take care of. He had met with an accident a year back, as a result of which his legs were injured. He had spent one year recovering at home and had just begun earning again. Besides, he had spent all his savings to repair his auto.
