Mangaluru, Nov 11, 2015 : Autorickshaw drivers who are on a day long strike to pressurise the authorities to yield to their demand to revive auto fares, staged a protest in front of the DC office on November 11, Wednesday.
Addressing the protestors, Sunil Kumar Bajal said the administration has failed to increase the autorickshaw fares at a time when oil prices are increasing. He also pointed out how the administration had reduced the auto fares to Rs 23 from Rs 25 when oil prices had come down.
He said the autorickshaw drivers are now demanding that the minimum fare be fixed at Rs 25. He also warned that the autorickshaw drivers would intensify their protest if the demand was not met with it.
The auto drivers cannot are not at all satisfied with what they get. They try to squeeze the passengers money. Some are rude by attitude and demand more money than the meter fare.
I agree when the fuel prices where high the increase in auto fare is understood but now the fuel price has come down still the auto drivers want more fare. This is protest is not worth it.
