Mangaluru, Oct 19, 2015: The BJP which had planned a huge protest on October 20 against the murder of Bhajrangdal activist Prashanth Poojary in Moodbidri, has now called off the protest following the arrest of four persons in connection with the murder. The party had earlier set October 19 as the deadline for the Police Department to arrest the culprits in the case.
Informing this to reporters here, Pratap Simha Nayak, District President of the BJP said the protest has been withdrawn as the main accused has been arrested and added even the Commissioner had appealed through the media in this regard. He said the BJP has taken the decision upon consultation with state leaders.
While congratulating the Police Department for arresting the four accused, he also urged the Department to initiate a thorough probe into the case.
On this occasion, Nayak also criticised the ministers from the district including the Moodbidri MLA for not visiting the house of the deceased Prashanth Poojary. He even strongly felt that there should be no discrimination in treating cases pertaining to majority and minority communities.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC and Monappa Bhandary, former MLC were also present at the press meet.
Some times we become proud of our police. But in Prasanth’s case we are not. A person being killed in public and no clue of the culprits till today.
If the serious effort for the capture of culprits are done then there is no necessity of protest i suppose. This shows how irresponsible we are about person’s life.
