Mangaluru, April 6, 2016: In another successful operation by Indian Coast Guard at Karwar, Indian Coast Guard Ship C-420 provided assistance to fishermen of FV Star Fish Reg No. IND-KA-02-MM-1106, which reported that one crew in their boat was severely ill and needed Medical help.
At around 05:36 PM on 05 April 2016, ICGS C-420, while on coastal patrol received a distress alert on VHF Channel 16 from a fishing boat named Star Fish, stating that one crew in their boat, namely Mr. Damodar was severely ill and had complain of unbearable stomach pain. ICGS C-420 under the directives of ICGS Karwar took prompt action and altered course for search and rescue operation.
The ship arrived area in no time and successfully evacuated the causality and one attendant. Thereafter, the ship reached Karwar Civil Port with its maximum speed and had the patient admitted in Karwar Government Hospital. The patient is in ICU undergoing treatment. Preliminary investigation revealed 4.6 mm stone in Left kidney. The patient is being taken to Udupi for operation.
