Puttur, Feb 15, 2016 : Police from Tirupathi in Andhra Pradesh  along with CBI sleuths who are on the lookout for   the Kashi Mutt Samsthan’s former junior seer Raghavendra Theertha alias Shivananda Pai alias Chotu searched for him in an Ashram in the outskirts of the town on February 14, Sunday .

Kashi MuttThe search however did not yield any result as Raghavendra who is said to be absconding along with some valuable items of the Mutt which he had not yet returned as per court orders, was nowhere in the Ashram.

It is learnt though Raghavendra had returned  some valuables to the Mutt after he was divested of  his position, he had still kept with him several valuables which were nearly five centuries old. Though he was directed to return all the valuables intact, he instead  had absconded and was reportedly in hiding in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The CBI had even issued a Red Corner notice against Raghavendra and had announced a reward of Rs one lakh to anyone who would provide information regarding his whereabouts.

The CBI and Tirupathi Police led by DySP Ram Mohan had earlier searched for him at an Ashram at Wayanad in Kerala but of no avail. Later, following information that he was in hiding in an Ashram in the outskirts of Puttur, the police and CBI sleuths had arrived in the town and conducted a search with the help of local police and some leaders of the GSB community.
