When the ambulance carrying the woman named Guriya Devi reached Talapady the police refused entry despite vehement pleas  by the woman’s family. Later the ambulance headed towards the Kasargod General Hospital which was 35 kms away.  As the vehicle was crossing through Mogral, the woman delivered a baby in the ambulance itself.

Roads on the Karnataka-Kerala border  have been closed at various points and even ambulances from Kerala are prevented at Talapady in view of Coronavirus scare. Many from Kerala who are dependent upon hospitals in Mangaluru for dialysis and treatment for severe ailments are greatly inconvenienced due to this.
