Manjeshwar, March 27, 2020: A Bihari woman who was residing in Kunjattur delivered a baby girl in the ambulance itself after police refused to allow the ambulance from Talapady on the Kerala-Karnataka border to proceed to a hospital in Mangaluru, on March 27, Friday morning.
When the ambulance carrying the woman named Guriya Devi reached Talapady the police refused entry despite vehement pleas by the woman’s family. Later the ambulance headed towards the Kasargod General Hospital which was 35 kms away. As the vehicle was crossing through Mogral, the woman delivered a baby in the ambulance itself.
Roads on the Karnataka-Kerala border have been closed at various points and even ambulances from Kerala are prevented at Talapady in view of Coronavirus scare. Many from Kerala who are dependent upon hospitals in Mangaluru for dialysis and treatment for severe ailments are greatly inconvenienced due to this.
