All police stations to hold grievance redressal meets: SP Abhishek Goyal

Mangalore, June 17, 2013 : SP Abhishek Goyal has informed that all police stations in the district will be mandatorily holding grievance redressal every third Sunday.

Speaking to reporters after holding a grievance redressal meet in his office on June 16, Sunday, the SP said it has been decided to hold such meets at every police station level in the presence of the sub-inspectors concerned, in view of the fact that grievance redressal meets   being held in district headquarters were not receiving enough complaints. He also pointed out that only one complaint came up at the meeting held on Sunday.

 On the developmental works initiated in Naxal affected areas with funds sanctioned through the police department, Goyal said the works were progressing at a very slow place. He said though progress works worth Rs 5 crore were to be done in Naxal affected areas of Belthangady, only 50 per cent of the works are complete.

Even the DC has expressed his displeasure over the slow pace of works, he said.

Goyal also said that there was a proposal to recruit tribal  youth as Home Guards   for a year  and added that such a move will create job opportunities for tribal youth and also give them a good experience.
