Udupi, April 28, 2015 : Udupi Deputy Commissioner Muddu Mohan has said that all arrangements are in place for the Parliamentary re-elections in Uppinakudru (West) polling station which comes under Byndoor Assembly segment. The Byndoor segment comes under Shimoga Parliamentary constituency.
Speaking to reporters here, he said the Electronic Voting Machine had developed a snag during the election held at the Government Model Higher Primary School on April 17. Though the EVM was replaced and voting carried on registering a 74.38 per cent polling per centage, a re-election was ordered as the votes polled in the first EVM will not be able to be counted.
A total 1,167 voters including 629 women and 538 men come under this polling station.
As a precautionary measure, sale of liquor has been banned till April 29 midnight in the assembly segment. The polling station being considered sensitive, the administration has made elaborate security arrangements.
