Mangaluru, Nov 03, 2015: An All Terrain Racing Vehicle designed and developed by students of the Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) at Moodbidri was unveiled by Rajesh Chowta, President of Rajalakshmi Education Trust at the college premises on November 2, Monday.
Giving information about the newly designed vehicle at a press meet later on, Dr GL Eshwar Prasad, Principal of the College, said the All Terrain Vehicle has been selected to participate in the national level Baja SAI India 2015 competition to be held at Indore in February 2016. It will also contest in the Baja Student India -2016 to be held at Uttar Pradesh in January, he added.
A total of 30 students of Seventh Semester Mechanical Engineering led by Ashwin Balaram B and Ashrith S have developed the vehicle under the guidance of lecturers Pavan, Rahul and Saviraj. The vehicle weighing 184 kg has a 305 cc engine and gives good mileage, informed Dr CR Rajashekhar, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the College.
The total cost of designing and developing the vehicle is around Rs 7.5 lakh and the same has been borne by the College management, he added.
