Air cargo complex to come up at Mangalore Airport

Mangalore, July 18, 2012: Veerappa Moily, union minister for corporate affairs, said that Ajith Singh, union civil aviation minister, had announced the commissioning of domestic as well as international terminals at Mangalore Airport by Aug 2012. 

In a recently issued press release, Dr. Moily said that the need for an air cargo complex with cold storage facilities was the major topic discussed at Export Vision 2020 held in February. He said that he took up this issue with the union civil aviation minister, who told him that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is modifying the old passenger terminal to construct a cargo terminal to handle domestic and international cargo.
M/s Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) will provide the cold storage facilities, which can be used to process and store perishable cargo, said the minister.
