Mangaluru, Jan 27, 2018: Enthusiam was at a high as good numbers met for Aerophilia 2018, a two-day National level Aeromodelling Competition, that commenced on the campus of Sahyadri College of Engineering here on January 26,  Friday.

As many as 50 teams comprising 105 students, which includes those from Indian Institutes of Technology and National Institutes of Technology, are participating in the aeromodelling competition.

The participating teams are expected to design a radio-controlled aircraft with the limitations regulated in its dimension and the power system. The aircraft will be validated for its manoeuverability and maximum payload carrying capacity. The aircraft will be tested in three rounds. The winning team will given cash award of Rs. 2,75,000.

The event will see fixed wing and 3D helicopter show by professionals from India and Dubai. There will be talks by officials from Defence Research and Development Organisation, Indian Air Force, Indian Space Research Organisation and Indian Institute of Science.

Apart from aeromodelling, there will be other competitions such as Drone Race, Water Rocket, Chuck Glider, Rubik’s Cube, Paper Plane, Treasure Hunt, PC Games and Photography at the Engineering College campus.

The competition is being organised by Team Challengers of Sahyadri College of Engineering.
