Udupi, Nov 11, 2018: Udupi Admaru Mutt seer Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swami has handed over the reins of mutt administration to his successor 33-year-old Eshapriya Theertha Swami.

The senior seer told media that he decided to hand over the powers to his junior as he is keen to go deeper into spirituality and wants to spend rest of his life performing devotional activities. Henceforth, his junior will be in charge of mutt and the property affairs.

He said, “I will be always there for Eshapriya Theertha Swami when he will be administering the mutt, performing puja and managing financial affairs. For the time being, the educational institutions under Admaru mutt will be taken care of by me. However, Eshapriya Theertha Swami will take over these educational institutions in a phased manner.”

The 60-year-old pontiff said it is high time he retires. The forthcoming Paryaya in January 2020 will be of Admaru Mutt. The issue who would be adorning the Paryaya Peeta is yet to be decided.

The junior is capable of handling all the responsibilities both as a spiritual and experienced leader leading the devotees. Eshapriya Theertha Swami is mature enough and he seems to be the perfect
disciple anyone can aspire for, he said.

The senior pontiff said he is extremely proud of the junior who will be henceforth called as the Mathadhipathi.

Eshapriya Theertha Swami said that the senior seer’s decision has come as a surprise to him.

“Though I am reluctant to accept, I have no way other than obeying the senior seer’s instructions,” he added.
