Accused in toll plaza case escapes from hospital : Bantwal inspector, constable suspended

Mangalore, April 29, 2014 : Bantwal Circle Inspector Rajashekhar Maistry and constable Sheshappa have been suspended for dereliction of duty in the wake of the accused in the Brahmarakootlu toll plaza vandalizing case escapes from the hospital where he was undergoing treatment. The suspension orders were passed by SP Dr Sharanappa.

It is said Mohammad Shamir alias Shammi, an accused in the toll plaza case who was injured during vandalism was under treatment at a hospital. On coming to know about this, the police kept an eye on him and planned to arrest him as soon as he was discharged from hospital. In this regard constable Sheshappa was posted at the hospital along with some Home Guards.

Still, it is said Shamir escaped on the night of April 27, Sunday. The SP who took serious cognizance of this suspended both the circle inspector and the constable and has also asked the Home Guards Superintendent to take action against the Home Guards on duty at the hospital.
