It may be recalled here that the abduction rumour had  resulted  in tense situation at Salettur in Bantwal where police had to resort to caning when locals grew furious after a car suspected to be belonging to abductors  did not stop when signalled to do so.

In the one minute long video, the girl Panchami (21) and the boy Suprith (25) could be seen and the latter stating that he is in love with Panchami since seven years but their families were opposed to the marriage. He says finding no other way he took Panchami along with him and left towards Karnataka  and tied the knot on May 14. He made it clear that no one else was involved in the case and that the marriage took place out of their own will. Even Panchami states she was happy with Suprith. Sources say they tied the knot at the Arya Samaj, Balmatta.

It is worth recalling here that the rumours stated that a boy of another community had  abducted the girl.
