 Mangaluru, Feb 2, 2017 : Veerarani Abbakka Utsav-2017 to commemorate the valiant queen of Ullal  will be held at the Asaigoli Kendra Maidan in Konaje village on February 4 and 5.  State Minister for  Kannada and Culture Umashree will inaugurate the Utsav at  5 pm that day. Earlier, a ’Janapada Dibbana’ cultural procession will be taken out from Derlakatte to the Utsav venue. MUDA Chairman Suresh Ballal will flag off the procession.

At the formal function, ZP Chief Meenakashi Shantigodu will inaugurate   cultural programmes while noted writer Vaidehi will inaugurate the different sessions to be held as part of the Utsav.

Earlier in the day, Rani Abbakka Kreedotsava will be held at Vidyodaya Higher Primary School Grounds Asaigoli from 8 am onwards. State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies UT Khader will receive a guard of honour on the occasion.

 On February 5, Sunday a women’s seminar named "Mahile mattu Asaampradayika Nelegalu’’ will  be held under the presidentship of Dr. Preethi Shubha Chandra. A  multi-lingual poets meet to be held in the afternoon will be chaired by Bhagirathi Hegde.

At the valedictory function to be held at 5 pm,  State Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will confer the Veera Rani Abbakka Award to Prof. D Vedavathi, while Rani Abbakka Awards will be presented to Rohini Jagaram and Sarala B Kanchan.

DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai, Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader and a host of dignitaries will grace the occasion.
