Mangaluru, Nov 27, 2016: MLC and Chief Whip of State Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza has sought public support for the Aakrosh Diwas to be observed by the Congress on November 28, Monday in protest against the demonetisation of currency notes of 500 and 1000 denominations.
Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office here on November 27, Saturday he said as part of the Aakrosh Diwas the Congress would be holding protests in district and taluk headquarters.
He said the demonetization has not helped the nation any way, and asked the Union Government to furnish details as to how much black money has been deposited in the banks in the aftermath of demonetization.
He also urged the government to provide a compensation of Rs one crore to the families of those who lost their lives due to the inconvenience caused by demonetisation. They should also be declared martyrs, he added.
Ibrahim Kodijal, Interim President of District Congress, Najeer Bajal and others were present.
