Mangaluru, Feb 24, 2021: Police have arrested two persons in connection with ATM skimming racket that is active in the city. It has been gathered that one of the accused hailed from Delhi while the other person is from Kasargod.
It has been reliably learnt that this was a six member racket. The cops have launched a search for the other accused including the kingpin.
As already reported, two men who were trying to fix a skimming device at the ATM centre of a bank near the petrol bunk at Mangaladevi on February 21, Sunday were caught hold of by public and handed over to the police. The CCTV footage of this incident had gone viral. Chief Manager of the SBI Dinesh U later lodged a complaint at Bunder police station.
An attempt to hack the ATM machine of Canara Bank at Gandhinagar in Chilimbi was also made the same day and the matter was reported to the police by the Bank officials the next day.
The fact that several instances of people losing money due to this skimming racket has caused a great deal of apprehension among members of the general public.
