ABVP worker hacked to death near Peravur

Kerala, Jan 19, 2018 : An Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) worker was hacked to death by a group of masked assailants near Peravur in Kannur on Friday.

 

The deceased has been identified as Shyam Prasad (24), a student of the Peravur Government ITI. A native of nearby Kannavam, he was hacked to death at Kommeri under the Peravur police station limits here around 5.30 p.m., the police said.

According to the police, the youth was riding a two-wheeler when three-member assailants attacked him on the road near the Kommeri Goat Farm. The wounded youth fled the spot to escape the masked assailants and entered the compound of a nearby house. The chasing assailants caught him on the verandah of the house and hacked him with sharp weapons, the police said. He died while being taken to a hospital at Thalassery, the police said.

The Peravur police said the investigation was under way to identify the assailants and the motive of the murder. The police said the area had not witnessed any political tension recently.
