A minor girl allegedly gang-raped by five in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec. 28, 2015: A 16-year-old minor girl filed a complaint in Kavoor police station alleging she was raped by five men on Monday, December 28

As per the complaint, the minor girl was allegedly raped by Prashant Shetty and his friends, Adil, Naufal, Salman and another whose name she did not know. Prashant Shetty is from Kunjathbail. Mangaluru Mahila Shakti accompanied the girl to the Police station to register the case

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In her complaint, the girls said the Prashant Shetty is her neighbour and that he used to harass her every now and then. He used pursue her offering gifts and favours and even offered to marry her. When she was not budging to his wishes, he blackmailed to have sex with him. He forced her to have sex with him and later made to go with his friends. She alleged that he even threatened her of dire consequences if she reveals the affair to anyone.

She alleges that Salman called her on Sunday December 27 from Prashant’s phone and told her to meet him at Panjimogaru bus stop. He had told her Prashant was willing to marry her and his family member wants to meet her. Later, Adil, another friend of Prashant met her at the best stop and took her to a house in Panjimogaru where all the accused five were present. All of them abused her. She was given some juice to drink and she was unconscious while all of them took turns. Later they dumped her at the bus stop. Some locals helped her reach her home.

Following a complaint by the girl, the police arrested four persons and also Prashant Shetty for offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The girl was being treated at a hospital where she was provided psychological counselling and support.
