Udupi, Feb 14, 2014: Eighty six year old Savitri Amma is all set for a legal battle against her very own son. Savitri Amma has already filed a petition in the Kundapur Court with the help of Udupi Human Rights Foundation, accusing her fifth son of not only harassing her but also illegally transferring her property in his name.
Her case goes as follows. Savitri Amma had equally distributed 50 cents of land she had inherited among her eight children including two daughters after her husband Gururaj Bhat’s demise 14 years ago. She was then staying with her youngest son Krishna Bhat in the old house located on the remaining 15 cents land.
But trouble began for Savitri Amma after her son Krishna Bhat left for Mumbai on a job two years ago. Her fifth son Keshava Bhat who then came to the house saying he would offer pooja to the family deity quietly took control over the house. It is learnt, he even began to harass his mother by not offering her food and sometimes she had to even visit the nearby temple to have food. Circumstances even forced her to stop having dinner in the house. Very soon Savitri Amma realised that her son had transferred her property in his name through foul means. This she came to know after the electricity bill which she received in June 2013 was in the name of Keshav Bhat instead of her husband Gururaj Bhat.
She then managed to come out of the house and lodged a complaint with the police with the help of her sister. On the advice of the police, she later approached the Human Rights Foundation and lodged a complaint at the Kundapur court.
