Mangaluru, Jun 17, 2020: Eight people from Dakshina Kannada and four people from Udupi tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, June 17.
Among the 8 cases in Dakshina Kannada, two are Saudi Arabia returees, one from Maharashtra and five cases are from secondary contacts. All of them have been shifted to the designated Covid hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.
With this the total positive cases in the district rose to 386, including 10 persons from other districts. As many as 170 persons have been discharged and seven deaths have occurred so far.
Udupi district has reported four positive cases including two children on June 17. Among four patients, 3 are Maharashtra returnees and 22-year-old female contracted infection from a lab technician who was tested positive few days ago. Now, the Udupi district has a total of 1039 cases with 130 still being treated at the designated hospitals. The district has reported one COVID-19 fatality. 908 patients including 23 people on Wednesday, recovered and discharged.
