Mangaluru, Jun 23, 2020: Eight people from Dakshina Kannada and eleven people from Udupi tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, June 23.
Among the eight new cases in Dakshina Kannada, four men and four women. One among them is a Kuwait returnee, 4 persons have contracted the infection from P-8318, 2 with severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and one with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms have tested positive.
With this the total positive cases in the DK district rose to 453, including 10 persons from other districts. As many as 223 persons have been discharged and nine deaths have occurred so far including a death of 70-year-old man today.
Udupi district has reported 11 positive cases on Tuesday. Among them four are Maharashtra returnees, two have travelled from Kuwait, one each from Dubai and Saudi Arabia, one has contracted infection from P-2047 and the source of infection of one more patient is yet to be traced. Now, the Udupi district has a total of 1088 cases with 108 still being treated at the designated hospitals. 967 patients recovered and discharged. The district has reported two COVID-19 fatality.
