Mangaluru, Dec 31, 2023: The Kambala festival in Tulunadu, which has a rich cultural heritage, has brought everyone together in a festive atmosphere, said Sri Subudhendra Tirtha Swamiji of Sri Raghavendra Math during the inaugural ceremony of the 7th edition of Mangaluru Kambla on Saturday, December 30.

The Rama-Lakshmana Jodukare Kambala organized under the leadership of Capt Brijesh Chowta at Goldfinch City, Mangaluru. The seer conveyed his delight at the growing popularity of this sport from Tulunad, now recognized as a significant social and cultural festival in the state.

Tejasvi Surya, the National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and Member of Parliament, lauded Kambala as a symbol honoring the bravery, courage, and strength of the youth. He emphasized its expansion to Bengaluru, signifying the ongoing continuity of cultural traditions.

K. Prakash Shetty, the Honorary Chairman of Kambala and CMD of MRG Group, presided over the event. Various dignitaries, including MLA Harish Poonja, Legislative Council Members Manjunath Bhandari and S L Bhoje Gowda, Udupi District BJP President Kuilady Suresh Nayak, Former Member of National Commission for Women Shyamala Kunder, KPCC General Secretary Mithun Rai, Former MLAs Shakuntala Shetty and Prabhakar Bangera, Administrative Director of MRG Group Gaurav Shetty, Vice-Chancellor of Nitte University Vishal Hegde, BJP Yuva Morcha National Treasurer Sai Prasad, Kudroli Kshetra Treasurer Padmaraj R., along with other notable figures such as Ravi Shankar Mijar, Yakshadhruva Patla Satish Shetty, Vikas Puttur, and Upendra Shetty, graced the occasion.

Capt Brijesh Chowta extended a warm welcome to the gathering, and the Mangaluru Kambala featured the participation of 170 pairs of buffalos.
