Mangalore, June 10, 2013: The 70th Sanyasa Deeksha Mahotsava of Srimad Sudhindra Theertha Swamiji, the senior pontiff of the prestigious Kashi Mutt Samsthan of the GSB community, was celebrated at the Sri Venkatramana Temple at Carstreet on June 10, Monday.

The programmes began with a Mahaprarthana to the Lord in the presence of the seer, priests as well as devotees from far and near. This was followed by Shree Lagha Vishnu Havana, Poornahuthi  and   Mahapooja to Shree Vyasa Raghupathi, the presiding deity of Kashi Mutt Samsthan.

In commemoration of the great occasion, the seer  offered Kanakabhisheka to Sri Vyasa Raghupathi using the newly  made silver Kanakabhisheka Dharapatre and Swarnamishri. There was also Samaradhane (mass feeding).

Srimad Samyameendra Theertha Swamiji, the anointed successor of the senior pontiff was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival to the temple in the evening.

A function was then held at the Rajangana in the presence of the senior and junior pontiffs. The annual celebrations of the Pata Shalas and Balakashramas  managed by the Sri Kashi Mutt Samsthan in Mangalore, Basrur and Karkala were held to coincide   with the occasion.


The senior pontiff was also honoured on the occasion. CL Shenoy, Nityananda Nayak, Trustees of Sri Venkatramana Temple and M Padmanabha Pai, Renovation Committee President, were also on the dais.
