7-year-old Ayana presents 75th Bharatanatyam show

Moodbidri, July  26: Seven-year-old Ayana V. Raman, the Bharatnatyam child prodigy, presented her 75th show at the Bhairavi Mantap at Thribhuvanachudamani Basadi on July 25 Sunday. The show was jointly organized by www.ekanasu.com, Davalatraya Trust, and Kannada Culture Department. Ayana is the daughter of K. V. Raman, the reporter, and Mookambika G. S., the MSW lecturer of Alva’s College.

The chief guests were Swami Charukeerthi Bhattaraka of Jain Mut and Mulky Moodubidri MLA Abhayachandra Jain. In his address, Swami Bhattaraka pointed out that Ratnakaravarni wrote his great works in the 16th century sitting at the Bhairavi Mantap, where Ayana gave her Bharatanatyam presentation.  Interestingly, the Tulu movie Koti Chennayya was also shot in the same venue. 


The child prodigy also recited the names of 141 Kannada poets in one go. Her 75th show was meant to be a Guruvandane to her mentor Geetha Saralaya and teacher Rashmi. 


K. V. Raman delivered the introductory address, lecturer Sitaram delivered the welcome address, Harish K. Adoor proposed the vote of thanks, and journalist Dhananjay Moodubidri was the MC.
