661 fined for ticketless travel, Rs 2.12L collected

Mangaluru, March 02, 2020:   The ticket checking staff and Railway Protection Force personnel, recently, conducted a two-day special drive on ticketless travel and collected a total fine of Rs 2,12,690 on Mangaluru-Kannur section.

As many as 661 ticketless travellers were fined in the drive.

Following the drop in ticket sales on the Mangaluru-Kannur section, Pratap Singh Shami, divisional
railway manager of Palakkad Division, had directed the officials to carry out a check.

At Mangaluru platform itself, the officials had detected 218 cases and collected a fine of Rs 67,445.

The officials have advised the ticketless travellers to purchase season tickets and UTS ticket using mobile app.
