Mangalore, Mar 2: A person was seriously injured and five others sustained minor injuries when a private bus lost control and turned turtle near Melthota at Kulshekar on March 2, Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses say that the conductor was driving Route No. 4 S. R. Brothers although the driver was present. There were only 10 -15 passengers in the bus since it is a public holiday for Mahashivarathri.

The injured, who are currently taking treatment in government as well as private hospitals in the city, are now out of danger.
 

Reportedly, city buses do not start on time and then over speed and try to over take other vehicles in a bid to reach on time. Moreover, citizens allege that city buses skip trips that they are supposed to take and cancel scheduled trips and take wedding parties instead.

In a serial accident involving a Maruthi car, a Mahindra van, a couple of autorickshaws, and a Benz car near Attavar at half past noon on March 2, Wednesday, one person sustained serious injuries.

Owing to brake failure, the Mahindra van dashed into four vehicles. Reportedly, construction work in the vicinity has been obstructing the smooth flow of traffic for quite some time.


The accident resulted in a huge traffic block. A police interceptor arrived at the site in a few minutes.


The injured is currently taking treatment in hospital.
