5 squads formed to keep eye on political parties : Udupi DC

Udupi, Mar 8, 2014 : Deputy Commissioner Muddumohan has informed that a total of five squads have been formed  to oversee election works and to keep an eye on the activities of political parties.


udupi dcSpeaking to reporters on March 7, Friday  in the wake of the announcement of Lok Sabha polls, the Deputy Commissioner said the squads are Flying Squad, Static Surveillance team, Video Viewing Team, Sector Officers team and Video Surveillance Team.


The Deputy Commissioner said the election expense limit of a candidate has been fixed at Rs 70 lakh by the election Commission. He said election notification will be issued on March 19 while nominations will be accepted from March 19 to 26. Scrutiny of nominations will be on March 27, while last day for withdrawal of nominations is March 29.

The four taluks in Udupi Lok Sabha constituency have a total of 6,95,969 voters while Chikmagalur constituency including two taluks has 1,91,369 voters taking the total number of voters in the constituency to  13,51,245.

The DC also informed that a total of 95 polling booths in Udupi constituency have been identified as hyper sensitive and 480 booths as sensitive. A total of 53 booths are in Naxal affected areas.

Complaints regarding violation of poll code of conduct can be  lodged with the following telephone numbers . DC office Udupi (1077), Tahsildar’s office, Udupi (251198), Tahsildar’s office Kundapur (08258-230201),  Tahsildar’s office Karkala (08258-230201).
