4 missing students of Suratkal school found dead in river at Haleyangady

Mangaluru, Feb 28, 2024: The four students of a private school of Suratkal who were  missing since February 27, Tuesday have been found dead. Their bodies were traced in the river beneath the  railway bridge at Haleyangady Koppala.

The deceased are Yashvith, son of Chandrakanth, Raghavendra, son of Vasanth of Haleyangady, Nirupa, son of Vishwanath and Anvith, son of Devadas. All of them were 15 years old and 10th standard students.

 On Tuesday they had appeared for the SSLC preparatory exams in English. After 1.30 pm they were not to be seen. As soon as a missing case was registered, Suratkal police had launched a hunt and had checked the CCTV footages. The CCTV images had revealed that they had boarded a bus at Suratkal and had alighted at Haleyangady bus stand. Based on the mobile phone location of one of the students, the police confirmed that they had come to the river bank. There their school bags, footwear and uniforms were found.

The bodies have been shifted to Wenlock for a post-mortem.

Suratkal Police are investigating the case.
