The health department has trained the members in carrying out the last rites. The activists with PPE kit will perform all the rituals related to burial, including offering prayers. The PFI team has buried eight victims until now.

“It is a good deed to take part in the funeral rituals. All including our family members are supporting us. Even mosques have extended the required support,” PFI City unit president Muzar Ahmmed said.

Ashraf from Mumbai has imparted training to the team on burial as per Islam tradition. In addition, Dr Naveen Kumar from Wenlock Hospital has imparted training to members on how to carry out the burial as per the government guidelines. The same team had buried the body of 76-year-old victim from Uttara Kannada, at Angaragundi on the city’s outskirts.

Using the cloth, they place the body inside the pit dug for the body. Later, they offer prayers and fill the pit with soil, he added.
