Bantwal, May 24,2017 : Three persons of Tamil Nadu origin who tried to smuggle ganja from their state to Karkala were arrested near the main entrance at Dharmasthala on May 23, Tuesday by the Bantwal police. A total of 20 kg ganja worth Rs 4 lakhs, three mobile phones and a cash of Rs 1,100 have been seized from them.
The arrested are Tamilu Selbi alias Lakshmi, Shanthakumar and Chandrakumar alias Kumar of Gudalur in Neelagiri district.
A police team comprising Bantwal DySP Raveesh and DCIB inspector Amanulla led the operation that followed a tip off and found the three with two sacks near the KSRTC bus stop at Dharmasthala. The police inspected the bags and found 10 packets each having 2 kg ganja. The accused revealed that the ganja was from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
