Sullia, August 19, 2018: Three persons who were affected by the massive land-slip at Jodupala in between Sampaje and Madikeri and had taken shelter in a hilly terrain, have been rescued on August 19, Sunday.
All the three rescued persons are of north India origin and are workers of a rubber estate. They were spotted taking shelter beneath a tree. The NDRF, Police and other volunteers brought the three who were very ill to the relief centre. They are being treated there.
As many as three houses have vanished due to the land slip here. Two bodies have been traced so far. Hundreds of others have also been shifted to relief camps.
Khader, Nalin visit affected areas
DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader visited Jodupala where a massive land slip from a hill has caused much destruction.
Even Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar visited the place to review the arrangements made for the affected people.
Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil and SP Ravikanthe Gowda also visited the place. Three Ganji Kendras have been opened for the rescued people.
