Mangaluru, Jan 15, 2015: Three doctors who addressed a press meet in the city on January 15, Thursday have alleged that they have been cheated by a person of Bihar origin of nearly Rs 2.8 crores after making a false promise of getting them post-graduate medical seats in Karnataka.
The doctors Dr Arun Kumar From Tamil Nadu, Dr Vranesh from Kanyakumari and Dr Mohammad Azharuddin said the accused Sangeeth Kumar Jha was now at large and has neither ensured them MD seats nor has returned their money.
The doctors said they had met Sangeeth Kumar who has businesses in the city and Udupi, through a middleman in 2012 and that Sangeeth promised MD, MS seats for the year 2013-14.
Dr Arun Kumar said he had paid Rs 61 lakhs to Sangeeth and had even lodged a complaint against him in Bengaluru police station when the promise proved false. On the other hand, Dr Vranesh had reportedly paid Rs 90 lakh in three instalments while Dr Mohammad Azharuddin and his wife too had paid Rs 61 lakh and Rs 68 lakh respectively.
The aggrieved doctors have filed a complaint at Kadri police station and had even been to Delhi to search for Sangeeth but in vain. They alleged though they found his wife, she threatened them after initially agreeing to pay the money back.
They also claim that the accused had political patronage.
Meanwhile, the Kadri police who said they have registered the case also informed that so far they have not been able to track down Sangeeth Kumar.
