Mangaluru, Nov 27, 2023: It was a Eventful and fruitful day to remember and cherish, a day of Celebrations and Jubilations for the very enthusiastic 400 children residing in 10 different children’s care and protection centers in and around Mangaluru City who crave for parental love and affection but unfortunately deprived. Leaving behind their pain, agony, ignoring their grief and grievances they felt a sense of freedom, Relaxed, Freely mingled, rejoiced, played, danced with other residents of children’s care centers and shared their memorable moments.
It was a platform provided to the residents of children care and protection centers by the Rotary and Rotaract clubs to showcase their hidden skills in sports and inborn Talents in the Cultural Events. All the guests, spectators could notice the excitement, enjoyment and smile on the faces of the lovely children.
Rotary Club of Mangaluru Central jointly with Rotaract Club of Mangaluru City Organised their 23rd Annual Inter Children’s care and protection centers Meet “Chinnara Utsav” exclusively for the inmates of the 10 different Children’s care and protection centers operating in and around the Dist. On 26.11.2022 at Canara High School Urva campus. It was a one day long fun fair, joy filled festival of Sports and Cultural Events wherein 400 children after presenting a Colourful march past session, actively participated sports and cultural competitions with zeal and enthusiasm. It was a day to cherish and relish in their life time.
Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Sri Sudhir Shetty Kannur, in his inaugural address lauded the community development oriented service projects rendered by the Rotary by providing a suitable platform and equal opportunity to the children of children care and protection centers to showcase their skills and talents thereby eliminating social inequality. He also opined that the participation in the competition is important than winning.
Chairman of the organizing committee Rtn. Dr. Devdas Rai revealed that this prestigious event is a part of their Community Development oriented service project, the aim and objective is to bring a smile on the faces of the lovely children at least for a day and a feeling that they are not lonely.
President of the Rotary Club Rtn. Rajesh Shetty welcomed. Rotary Dist. Asst. Governor Rtn. Subhodh Kumar Das was guest of honor. Rotaract President Rtr. Avinash Kulal, Secretary Rtr. Akshay R. Rai were present on the dais. Rotary Club Secretary Ravi Jalan proposed vote of thanks. Rtn. K. M. Hegde compered the programme.
In the valedictory function Rotary Dist. Governor Rt. H. R. Keshav graced the occasion as Chief Guest and distributed prizes and certificates to the winners and runners up and awarded Trophy to the team for their overall performance.
