2008 terror case : District Court awards life imprisonment to 3 convicts

Mangaluru, April 12, 2017 : The Third Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced Ahmed Bava, Fakir Ahmed and Syed Mohammad Naushad who were arrested on terror charges in 2008, to life imprisonment. All the three were held guilty by the court in its judgement passed on April 10.

Of the three, Fakir was on bail when the verdict was announced on April 10. He was subsequently arrested and was produced before the court today.

It was on October 3, 2008 that Javed and Mohammad Ali were arrested from their house in Ullal by the Mumbai Police, Dakshina Kannada Police and ANF of Karnataka. Five others namely Syed Mohammad, Ahmed Bava alias Aboobakker, Mohammad Rafique, Maulana Shabbir and Fakir Ahmed were later arrested. All of them were accused of manufacturing explosives to use it for disruptive activities. They were also charged with having links with the Indian Mujahideen.
