Mangaluru, Oct 3,2016 : Two chain snatchers from the city are in police net. Bajpe police arrested the duo identified as Mohammad Hanif of Mallur and Imran (23) of Kavoor on October 2, Sunday. Even a Honda Activa belonging to the two have been seized.
The arrest followed the recent incident wherein two bike bound assailants had robbed the Mangalasutra of a woman named Sujatha near the Railway Bridge at Maravoor.
The duo who were arrested in this connection at Kavoor informed the police that they had discarded the Mangalasutra snatched by them near the mosque at Bondel. The police who recovered the same summoned Sujatha to inspect the chain. Though she identified it as her Mangalasutra, she was in for a rude shock to know that the Mangalasutra which was given to her by her husband after making her believe that it was gold, was in fact was an artificial one.
Understandably, the thieves who had realised that it was artificial had discarded it.
